Leroy Anderson wrote a series of pieces for beginning orchestra, including "Lullaby Of The Drums" (1970), "March Of The Two Left Feet" (1970), "Melody On Two Notes" (1966), "Waltz Around The Scale" (1970), and "Whistling Kettle" (ca. 1966).

Leonard Slatkin recorded "Melody on Two Notes" with the BBC Concert Orchestra in 2007.
